Who's Really Calling the Shots: How predefined constructs can confine a client's progress.

Are your clients doing “all the right things” yet feeling stuck? If you've explored every angle and they still seem trapped in a holding pattern, it might be time to look at the guides they rely on to move forward.

When individuals start pursuing goals, they often unknowingly surrender to the structures around them, letting them dictate what progress should look like. They forget these frameworks are meant to support—not restrict—their growth. The result? They waste energy trying to fit into systems that don’t truly fit them or their needs.

The good news is that they have the power to reshape these systems if they so choose and create the experiences they truly want. The key is assisting clients in identifying what systems are stifling progress, recognizing what they need instead, and retooling these systems or inventing new ones that better align with and support what they desire as they move toward their envisioned destination.

The Shaping the Path tool helps clients identify where they may be confined to predefined constructs and the influence these constructs have on them.  It also allows clients to determine their set rules for a purposeful path forward and assists in creating that plan.

Sample Questions from Tool:

  • What is still waiting for you to discover, to feel, to be moved by?

    • What guidance that once aided now confines or constricts what you can do or who you can be?

    • What are you attempting to maintain by referring to these guides?

    • What then gets deferred?

    • What rules do you want to refer to that will allow you to live your purpose fully?

    • What rules will you have to release to make room for the ones that matter?
